Graduation DVD Case

As I was browsing my photo gallery I came across this project I made one year ago.

As a kindergarten teacher, I was struggling to find a memorable yet cost effective gift for our students and their parents as well.

I stumbled upon some suggestions and ideas on Pinterest and crafting. Facebook groups and was able to come up with this.

Among the cards that crafters can possibly make, the saddest may be sympathy cards. As for me, I try to resist myself from making one, but as some of my closest friends and the people around me experience loss in their life, I’ve come to understand that the cards or crafts people make contribute to the emotional recovery of the berieved family.

The thought and prayers that crafters have while making these crafts is very much felt in the craft that they create. I`ve come to understand that sometimes even though we what we create may be to bland or plain, the thought behind it is more important. What I learned from this experience is that as a crafter, if would always better to acknowledge every event because in life, whether we like it of not unfortunate events will surely come our way.

Its not really the Japanese culture to send birthday cards and Christmas cards, however,  they send lots of New year greeting post cards to their family, friends and co-workers. These post cards are called `Nengajo` (年賀状).

In these post cards, they Japanese express their new year`s wishes to their relatives, friends and colleagues. There are really no restrictions in writing nengajo however, based on my experience, the Japanese still prefers cute designs with minimalist details.

In sending nengajo, timing is very important. The nengajo must arrive at it`s destination by January 1,  so the post cards must be sent on or before December 25 in order to arrive on time.

So if you plan on sending your Japanese friends some Nengajo, it is recommended to prepare earlier.  If your in Japan, you can opt to buy from the Post office, local book stores or even in convenience store. However, if you wish to send a unique and personalized card you can  opt to make your own card. No matter what kind of Nengajo you send, it still the thought that counts.
